Lisa and I have been trying this beet based energy drink for breakfast for the last several weeks. It is a good way to consume beets and other healthy vegetables and fruit.
You will need a sturdy blender like a Vitamix or Blendtech. We have a vitamix
Here is the recipe...
In your blender put the following:
- 2 bananas
- 20 green or red grapes
- one medium sized beet (fresh from the farmer's market, scrubbed clean)
- one stalk of celery, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
- add water to 1/2 of the height of the ingredients and blend until smooth
I have been adding the beet greens to this mix.
I also added 1/2 pound bag of baby kale. This makes the drink very light and almost fluffy. You may need to add more water.
Instead of water I added a big slice of watermelon, seeds and all.
I also mix two tablespoons of Chia Seeds in a cup of water and add to the drink the last 30 seconds of blending.
The beet makes this a beautiful deep dark red, no matter what else you put in it.
Sip the drink so that the siliva starts the digestion process.
