About the Farm

The Petersen's farm is north of Rochester, Minnesota. Rochester is the home of the world famous Mayo Clinic. We have been farming organically in the Rochester area for 25 years and have been selling vegetables at the Rochester Downtown Farmers Market (RDFM) for 16 years. We have also had produce at the Peoples Food Coop (formerly the Good Food Store) in past years. If you want to know just what kind of vegetables we grow, have a look at our most recent market menus.

We love to grow, eat and cook with organic and fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs. Each of our children have years of experience with the vegetables we grow. Ask them, you'll be glad you did.

You will see the words, "We Want to Be Your Farmer" on our market signs. One of our roles at the farmers market is to help people get to know their farmer and educate our customers on how to prepare and preserve the vegetables. If you shop at your local farmers market you should take full advantage of the knowledge of the growers and really take the time to understand how your food is grown. Many people assume that just because they are at a farmers market that everything is organically grown. That is a common misconception and you should inquire as to how produce the is grown, what cultural practices are used, what fertilizers, and what sprays are administered to the produce.
