Scientists call the act of changing a behavior, activation energy, meaning it takes effort to change a behavior. Behavioral psychologists say if you practice a new behavior for 21 days you can establish a new habit in your life.
Here are 10 things that are good for you that you are never going to feel like doing...
- Plant a garden. Nothing will get you fresher veggies.
- Get on a budget. Tell every dollar where to go. People new to budgeting claim they feel like they get a raise when they establish a budget the first time.
- Eat your vegetables. I happen to like vegetables, but it does take a little effort to prepare them so we don't always feel like having them with every meal. Take the time, you will be glad you did.
- Get out and stay out of debt. Get into the habit of living within the income that you have and not relying on debt. That is the only way to build wealth.
- Eat slow food. In the rush rush of everyday life you aren't going to always feel like food prep.
- Oil pulling. This is where you put a table spoon of organic sesame or coconut oil in your mouth. Swish it around for 15 minutes to draw out toxins around the teeth and gums. It is easy but lengthy procedure and hard to remember to do.
- Do a three to five day juice fast twice a year.
- Go to the summer farmers market weekly. Go to the winter farmers market.
- Read a non-fiction book every month.
- Exercise regularly. Some do this well, but others of us could do better.
