Washington DC Trip - Congratulations Reed

The local power cooperative sponsors one high school junior or senior each year for an all expenses paid trip to Washington DC this summer. Reed was selected.

They pick one student in a four county area. Pretty cool.

To receive this honor Reed did the following...

1. Filled out the application.
2. Wrote and essay on why he would like to go.
3. Wanted to learn about the cooperative business model.

What is interesting is he was also chosen to represent Schaeffer Academy in the legislative student paige program at the Minnesota State Capital back in March. He took a week off of school to do that and earned honors credit.

I guess those English and composition classes are paying off in being able to write an essay. Should be good for college essays too.

As far was we know Reed is the first person to be able to do this from his school Schaeffer Academy.
