Weird Farming Ideas

I like to introduce at least one wierd new thing at the Rochester Minnesota Farmers Market every season. I define weird as something not currently available at our market today and sometimes this may mean it is not available anywhere (that I know of). I will probably do a blog post on each of these over time so watch this space.

Some recent examples are:

1) Worm farms for kids. Small scale, limited supply. Good for kitchen scraps and compost piles
2) Black Garlic. Hard to find. Hard to make. Very expensive to buy.
3) Charcoal made from wood on the farm. Experiments in carbon sequestration.
4) Cherry tomato salsa. Very unique. Rather labor intensive to make.
