Sprouting the Fastest Garden Ever

Most years I would be out in the fields about now planting the very earliest of our greens, radishes and peas. We still have two feet of snow on the ground so planting isn't feasible for another couple of weeks. But I want to eat something now? I have a few herbs that are big enough to pick a few leaves.

But what to do beyond just herbs?

Sprouts can be ready to eat in just a few days so I started some this morning. I got some sprouting seeds from Peoples Food Coop a week ago. I have some plastic sprouting lids that match the threads of wide mouth mason jars. So I got them out and got things going.

The seeds I had gotten at the coop were for Alfalfa and Broccoli sprouts. But you can also sprout:
  • Beans
  • Brassicas
  • Chia
  • Grass
  • Lentils
  • Nuts and Seeds
  • Wheat
Let's talk about sprouting for a few posts.
