How to Plant Shallots

Jennna was planting shallots today. Unlike garlic, where you want to pick the biggest cloves. It is Okay to plant the smaller shallots, so by this time of the year that is what we mostly have left.

Here is how you plant.

We put a strip of organic fertilizer on the ground. Then put 4 inches of
compost on top of the fertilizer. We plant a double row of shallot into the compost.

The shallots will come out of dormancy in a week or so and begin to sprout.

In about 90 days the tops will die back and you can begin to harvest.
